Happy Birthday to Amy! + BLOG Candy

We've had a busy few days around here, celebrating the Number 11. Amy turned 11 on Friday, but it has turned out to be a big 4 days of celebrations, by the time we covered school friends, church friends, and various family members!
Marelle Taylor Stampin' Up! AustraliaThis card was actually a challenge by Amy. She told me which colours to use (chosen from the Colour Coach), and which stamp set... I did the rest! It was a fun way to make a card for her, and she was excited to see how it came out. The colours she chose are *bright!* Cameo Coral, So Saffron and Tempting Turquoise, with a splash of Glorious Green and Ballet Blue. The stamp sets I used are Garden Whimsy and Party Punch (level 1 Hostess set). I also used some Palette o' Prints DS paper. This promotion has now finished, but keep reading for some BLOG CANDY that could come your way!
I inked up the butterflies using my markers, blended the colours a bit on the rubber with my Aquapainter and stamped them on Whisper White cardstock. When I had finished stamping, I inked the whole piece in Versamark, by pressing my Versamark inkpad all over it. I then sprinkled the piece with Heat-and-Stick powder, and heated it until it was just shiny. I then sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds glitter, and re-heated it to set the glitter. It's hard to tell from the photo, but the sparkle is truly dazzling! I also made the 'Hb' sparkly by colouring it with 2-way glue, and sprinkling glitter on top. (I could have done this with Versamark and heat-and-stick powder, but I'd already put my heat gun away ;o)
I used the Designer Label punch for the greeting (don't you just love how the stamps and punches co-ordinate!). I punched a hole at either end with the Double rectangle punch to thread the ribbon through. I also highlighted some areas of the Designer Series paper with a white gel pen.
I think Amy liked her card :o)
Now, about that Blog Candy....I have a pack of unopened Palette o' Prints paper here. It's a 6"x6" pad of 48 sheets of double-sided paper in 4 gorgeous colours. If you'd like to receive this in your mail-box, just leave a comment telling me your favourite Stampin' Up! stamp set in the current Idea Book & Catalogue, and why! It's as easy as that.

I'll randomly pick a winner in a few days (Aussie residents only and no SU! Demos, sorry!)

  2. Hi Marelle
That card is fantastic, I really enjoy visiting your blog. I tried the bleach technique over the weekend and will turn the cardstock into a card when I have some free time. My favourite stamp set at the moment is Baroque Motifs because I only received it a couple of weeks ago and find you produce great cards in a very quick time.

  4. my fav stamp set would have to be the Always stamp set :)! If you go onto the Splitcoaststampers site you can get so many different ideas to help make your cards. This set can be used for many occasions as well. That is as long as you give credit where it is due :)!
Anyways, enough rambling from me...gotta go run some errands...

It can cover the range of ages for girls from babies to grans and the little bugs can be used for boys cards as well. Just love it. Thanks for the opportunity to win some great paper.

  6. Hi Marelle
I visit your blog daily, love your cards and often 'borrow' ideas. My favourite set at the moment is Scribble This because I've just started water colouring with the SU crayons - perfect images for playing and learning.

  8. Hi Marelle,

Thanks for the great blog, I try to check it every day and it is always filled with inspiration.

My favourite set.. hmm I am sooooo tempted to write Baroque Motifs, because it is so easy to use, but instead I am going to say that the most versatile and usable set in the catalogue IMHO is Short and Sweet, it has all the classic occasions and is so cute and easy to add to your card. I always add my sentiment at the very last minute having agonised over the rest of the design and so Short and Sweet is the set for me, always makes for a lovely finishing touch.

  9. wow love the sparkles on this VERY Girly.
Favourite set.....? I have too many favourites (well that's what my husband tells me when i'm highlighting the stamps i want to buy!) currently it's a close call between Garden Whimsy and Pick a Petal... I think i have to go with pick a petal, it looks good in all tones and is so versitile, i especially like using the petals to make butterflys.

  12. Hi Marelle - have bought the palette o'prints the other day so will pass on your generous blog candy but thought i would tell you my favourite stamp set so far. I love the All In The Family as it is really fun to use and quite versatile, even though i have only had one play with it and made a really nice card out of it. Your card for Amy is absolutely gorgeous - congrats to Amy for a fantastic colour choice! An SU Demonstrator in the making I think. ;)

  13. Hi Marelle,

My favourite stamp set at the moment (hard to choose only one) is the hostess set A Little Bit of Happiness. It is so versatile for not only cards, but gift bags and the like as well. Just getting into using watercolour crayons and this will be a great set to use with the crayons.

  15. My most favourite stamp in the new catalogue would have to be Fun & Fast Notes! It's got every occasion covered and one can make the simplest (and yet very trendy) cards by stamping an image in the middle of a cardstock to more elaborate ones! I especially love that little bird!

  16. Hello Marelle
What a lucky daughter you have to receive such a pretty card using her favourite colours. This is the first time I have come across your blog(needless to say-I have added it to my del.icio.us site favourites.
As for my favourite stamp set (many)I can't go past Scribble This! Everytime I make a card using this set, the reactions from family and friends are always fantastic! I will be passing on a link toyour blog to my mum and sister, who have both just started using stampin up products. Keep up the beautiful and elegant work. Rowena

  19. Hi Marelle

My fav stamp set is bud basics - maybe it's because I'm only new to stamping and it's the first one I owned; maybe it's because it's so versatile and makes such beautiful cards; maybe because it is soo quick to look pretty.

  21. First of all Marelle, LOVE the sparkle effect on this card. Now my favourite....can I ust say the whole book LOL. It would be between the Priceless and Pick a Petal. But I guess if I had to choose, I would pick the Pick-a-Petal. I have a daughter that I scrapbook alot for and am always using flowers, so even though I dont own it yet, I know that it would be used ALOT.

  23. Hi Marelle, how can you really just pick one set. I am finding it so hard to narrow it down to several sets. I must say I use the Baraque Motifs set first, so I will go with this set. Have a great day, Marls

  27. Hi Marelle,
What fabulous cards you make! My fave stamp set in the current catalogue would have to be "Beautiful Life" on page 83. I have always loved Daffodils, and the two-step process on these stamps makes them even better!

  29. A friend sent me a Christmas RAK with some flower stamped images that she cut out. (I am a scrapbooker) I loved them so much that I tracked them down and discovered they were "Scribble This". I only saw this catalogue yesterday and was thrilled to finally find out what it was called.
Oh and by the way I have had a LO accepted for publication with Scrapbooking Memories with these flowers on my LO!!!!

  32. Hi Marelle
This is my first ever blog posting, so hoping I do it right! I love checking out your new creations. I have the 'garden whimsy' set that I love. It makes great girly cards, but I must say my favourite at the moment is 'baroque motifs', I also have the matching wheel. Great for both both male & female cards, and so quick and easy to get a good looking card.
